A bowl of rice,
Come dine!
A Chinese lunch or dinner could be different from a western one in that everyone would have his own bowl of rice but the dishes of meat and vegetables would be placed in the middle of the table to be shared by all. One just has to take a dip of the dishes one fancies with his or her pair of chopsticks to be eaten with his or her bowl of rice. It is therefore easy to feed an extra unexpected mouth like an unexpected guest. As it is usually said, one just need a bowl of rice and a pair of chopsticks.
