This year's Zhongyuan or Hungry Ghost festival; like last year's is affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Specific standard operating procedure (SOP) has to be followed and the news is that ceremonies are allowed to be held at houses of worship from August 8 until September 6 but only 12 committee members are allowed to be present initially in Phase 1 and Phase 2 before graduating to Phase 3 where attendance at temples is limited to 50% of the capacity of the prayer area. Don't understand how the whole process works like when is considered Phase 1, 2 or 3 etc but nevermind; like last year and all the years before that, a prayer will be held at home and there will be a feast for the dead and living.
