A Chinese Movie: Hungry Ghost Ritual 盂蘭神功

The Hungry Ghost Festival isn't quite over yet; I suppose; when I came accidentally across this 2014 Nick Cheung's horror thriller movie Hungry Ghost Ritual 盂蘭神功 in YouTube. I was all alone at home last night and I thought it was a fine time to get some goosebumps; which I did numerous times watching the movie about a man who after having been swindled in business and breaking off with his girlfriend, returns home to help his father manage his opera troupe. The opening scene of an eerie looking old woman praying by the roadside was quite a teaser; her encounter with some ghosts may not have anything to do with the actual story but it was creepy enough to make you ask for more. There are many more ghosts and jolts  to be expected later as the opera troupe is scheduled to perform on a site where a fire has wiped off the cast of another opera troupe many years earlier. The jolts come every now and then; but the greatest jolt of all perhaps will be at the inevitable end when you'd be left wondering about what actually happened in the past and the identity of the ghosts and the real reason they are wreaking havoc. The story isn't well told, I think; but boy, it is interesting!
