Chinese dinner during weddings or other formal functions to me, is a fun affair. An eight course dinner; there would be fish, meat, chicken dishes which we normally don't cook at home and if there's any rice to eat, probably they are fried and come in a big dish for everyone to dig in. There was a formal dinner that I attended where the first dish seemed to be steaming hot.
