Dragon Boat Festival Duan Wu Jie falls on 22 June this year. Maybe still too early; but a relative brought over half a dozen or so Zongzi. The rice dumplings looked like the usual dumplings on the outside but when unwrapped, it revealed a pale looking zong; the glutinous rice wasn't mixed with soy sauce that was obvious but there were pork and mung beans inside. Heard the word salty zong being mentioned but this couldn't be the salty zong of Mauritius. That, I read, contains meat, beans and other fillings in plain rice, not sure if it's glutinous rice. By the way, 3% of the population in Mauritius are Chinese.
