Ho Kar Sai, has long been an item in coffee shops in Taiping. The drink of coffee mixed with Milo is said to have its birthplace here; but wouldn't be surprised that it has fans in other parts of the country. Nestle Malaysia had been known to promote the drink during the Year of the Tiger. Ho Kar Sai, in the hokkien dialect means tiger bites lion but someone unfamiliar with the drink had asked if the name could means tiger and lion instead since depending on the tone of how it is said, kar could mean either bite or and. When I first heard of the drink however, it had been bite. So, I think the name should be Ho Kar Sai 虎咬狮 Tiger bites lion and not Ho Kar Sai 虎和狮 Tiger and Lion. Chinese language plays on tones; so, it can be confusing and cause misundertanding sometimes.
