Pig Tale

While enjoying the paigu 排骨 or spare ribs in the nearby Chinese restaurant, suddenly I became aware that it could be a messy affair. A throw away plastic glove was provided so that one could gnaw away at the meat without soiling the hands. In such a situation or any situation at all when one is busy eating, one would never at all think of where the food has come from. I remember a time, probably in the 60s or 70s when people keep a pig or two in their backyard but later, this practice wasn't allowed and instead, pig farms were established in designated places which I suppose is more hygienic. Local pig farms are probably different from those in China, the world's top producer of pork. There,
I'm surprised to learn that some live in high-rise buildings.
