Chinese Paintings on the Walls

It has been a long time since I was at Perak Tong Chinese Cave Temple - That's a popular limestone cave temple at Jalan Kuala Kangsar, 6km north of Ipoh. The temple is said to have housed over 40 Buddha statues and oh, there were so many Chinese paintings on the walls too. Traditional Chinese paintings naturally differ from Western paintings. A Chinese painting is done the using a brush dipped in black or coloured ink and never are oils used. Paintings can be done in the Shui-mo (水墨) style, otherwise known as xie yi (寫意) or freehand style. Besides this style, there is also the meticulous or Gong-bi (工筆) or court-style painting.
