A Tale of Two Bridges

There probably were more than one Wan'an Bridge 万安桥 in China. Global Times reported on a 900-year-old wooden arch bridge which collapsed in a fire in Pingnan county, East China's Fujian Province. The  bridge called Wan'an Bridge which means Bridge of Universal Peace, was built in the Song Dynasty. Measuring 98.2 metres long, it was China's longest wooden arch bridge and it showcased Chinese ancient techniques in building wooden bridges. In Shanghai, over the City River in the town of Jinze, Qingpu District, there is another Wan'an Bridge. This however is an arch bridge made of stone.
