Leonardo da Vinci's name needs no introduction. His painting, Salvator Mundi currently is the most expensive painting in the world, being priced at US450.3 million. His other famous painting Mona Lisa was valued at US$100 million but that was in 1962.Talking about Mona Lisa, there's a Chinese Mona Lisa by a Chinese artist Leng Jun. His 2004 oil painting of a modern-day Chinese woman which went viral was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic painting. The Chinese Mona Lisa is very realistic; Leng Jun's paintings in fact are like photographs really; and was I surprised that it was sold for just a paltry sum of 700,000 yuan. The sketch was sold for 1.86 million.
