A Cup of Chinese Calligraphy

A Year Five Kadazan girl won an online Chinese calligraphy competition; and then I read about Chinese calligraphy being the writing of Chinese characters as an art form. Chinese characters called hànzì 汉字, in Chinese writing make used of logogram to represents a word. Said to be the oldest continuously used system of writing in the world, Chinese writing have been adapted to write other East Asian languages such as Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese. While Vietnamese has turned to romanised alphabets, Chinese characters have remained a key component of the Japanese writing system and Korean academia still use them to study Korean documents, history, literature and records. Chinese writing itself is still widely used throughout East and Southeast Asia and by virtue of number of users, it is still among the most widely adopted writing systems in the world. Not sure though if Chinese calligraphy is everyone's cup of tea.
