Chinese Healing Soup

Suppose one can't just buy some ready to eat herbal soup from the market: the Chinese healing soup 煲汤 baotang where chicken is slow-cooked with an assortment of nutritious herbs meant to boost the immune system. Besides being more expensive than the normal local hawker fare, the soup takes too much effort to prepare, a longer time to boil; and most of the time it is lovingly and patiently made by mothers for a fragile older member of the family perhaps; or a young one who is growing up or facing a challenging exam or else it is prepared for someone who is recovering from surgery or a new mom who’s nursing her baby. Many times too they are just for feeling good. And we had it with mi sua 麵線 wheat vermicelli.
