When I came across the list of the top 20 most popular Chinese actors, the 20 names are mainly mainland Chinese actors. Jackie Chan's name isn't even in the list but his name is at the top of another list; the most famous actors from Hong Kong, a list that perhaps needed to be taken with a grain of salt since it did not have some of the most popular actor like Louis Koo or Jet Li; but instead has names like Katrina Kaif, John Lone and Nora Miao. Nora Miao at least has been famous in the 70s for appearing in Bruce Lee's classic kungfu movies; nevermind that she has moved to Toronto and doesn't seem to be having big roles in outstanding movies these days; but Katrina Kaif and John Lone are surprised entries; Katrina Kaif being a British-Indian actress who appears primarily in Hindi movies and probably is an unknown to Chinese movie fans while John Lone, a Chinese American; doesn't seem to be in many movies, especially Asian ones and doesn't seem to be a hot Asian item. That their names made to the list perhaps was both were born in Hong Kong; afterall the list is not about actors in Chinese or Hong Kong movies but more of Hong Kong born artistes. Then, even if we're talking about popular actors from Hong Kong; we can talk about those from a different era...
