Happy Chong Yang Festival!

In a Whatshap group, someone sent his greeting for Chong Yang Festival. It was a surprise as I haven't heard of the festival. Chong Yang Festival, otherwise known as  Double Ninth Festival is mentioned in writings even  before the Eastern Han period but of course, we don't get to read that; and since we don't celebrate the festival too,I wasn't aware of its existence until recently when it was mentioned in a Chinese drama, One and Only. During the festival, people supposedly climb high mountains, drink chrysanthemum liquor, and wear the zhuyu 茱萸 plant, Cornus officinalis  as both chrysanthemum and zhuyu are considered to have cleansing qualities. The festival is celebrated by Chinese in China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan but I'm not sure about Chinese in South East Asia. This is the first time I received a Chong Yang Festival greeting from a South East Asian Chinese. Nobody seemed to be sending it unlike other festivals like Chinese New Year or the recent Mid Autumn Festival where the message box would be overloaded with greetings. Happy Chong Yang Festival anyway!
