TikTok, the social media platform for sharing short videos needs no introduction. Owned by Chinese company ByteDance, TikTok and many other Chinese apps have been banned by India since June 2020 after a border clash with China; while the US Army and Navy banned it, citing national security threat. There was much hype about privacy violations and security issues, things like that which raises the question of whether TikTok is dangerous especially for people who value privacy and security. For a normal, unknown and insignificant man in the street; if someone loves the social media and has no qualms about posting private photos and personal tidbits, such fear probably doesn't mean much; and yes, what the hack; TikTok or Douyin 抖音 as it is known in its birth country; even if for a brief period, Pakistan banned it, claiming the videos to be immoral and indecent; there is no doubt that many of the videos featured can be harmless, entertaining and educational even; depending on their creators...
