Just got a pair of 保定健身球 Bǎodìng Jiànshēn Qiú. Simply called Baoding balls, these are balls which you could place in your palm and repeatedly rotate them using your fingers to improve their dexterity as well as to relax the hand, or aid the recovery of muscle strength and motor skills after surgery. Baoding balls were said to be first created in Hebei, China, during the Ming dynasty. Then, they were made of iron and were therefore called iron balls. Baoding balls would ring if the balls are hollow and there are chimes inside but mine just give some knocking sound when they knock each other. They are supposed to be made of Afghanistan jade and are definitely solid inside.
