Remember Beatrice Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan, and Estelle Getty were in the American sitcom television series The Golden Girls in the mid eighties and early night nineties, playing four older women who share friendship and a home in Miami, Florida. Lately, there was news of China's own golden girls of sort; Glamma Beijing, comprising a quartet of grandmas, all above 60 years old: Lin Wei (65), Sun Yang (64), Wang Xinghuo (70), and Wang Nianwen (74). They met at a modelling training course and had later made a15-second video of themselves strutting their stuffs; figure hugging traditional qipao dresses and over-sized dangling fringe earrings in Sanlitun, one of Beijing’s busiest shopping districts and hence, became an internet sensation.
