Packed Lunches

For nine days, I 've had packed lunches. My niece had specially prepared and diligently brought them over for me and I had just to enjoy them when I came home from work. Then, I read up about packed lunch and learned that in the United States; when at work, people bring one in a brown-bag during an informal over lunch meeting. During the Korean War in the 50s, when Chinese hosted peace negotiations in Kaesong, the United States delegation brought along the brown bag lunch even though the hosts offered lunch to the U.S. guests. Then, while the war was between North and South Korea, China had supported North Korea while the United States supported South Korea. The U.S. delegates reportedly had considered lunching with one's opposition to be fraternizing with the enemy and had thus rejected the lunch offered by the hosts in favour of their own packed lunches. It was said it was a deliberate rebuff of the Chinese hosts  by the United States delegation. As it was then and considered the present situation where there seems to be an animosity between the two nations, one wonders if both countries could ever come together and work  towards the good of all mankind.
