Mind You, She's Not A Commie!

In TV, one would have to wait for reruns if one wants to watch an old, favourite series like Charlie's Angels, Dallas and the likes. Nowadays, with the Net, it's so easy to watch anything you fancy; and even before MCO, I 've been watching and having laughs over the 1977 British sitcom Mind Your Language. It's sad to know that Barry Evans who played Mr. Brown, the  English teacher, had in 1997 been found dead in his living room but many of the actresses and actors who played his foreign students are still alive and kicking, among them being Pik-Sen Lim 林碧笙 who played the character of Su-Lee, the Chinese Communist student. Pik-Sen Lim however isn't from China and neither is she a communist. She actually hailed from Penang. A Malaysian Chinese; she was the daughter of a palm oil millionaire and had despite objections, went to study at the London School of Dramatic Art when she was just 16. I remember seeing her with pins all over her face in a Bette Davis's movie, Madame Sin and the latest was as a killer cleaner in a Rowan Atkinson Mr.Bean' s movie, Johnny English Reborn.
