When People Meet and Eat

Swee Ling added some raw fish in the 魚生; yúshēng; which we had  during the recent Chinese New Year. In Guangzhou, China, fishermen traditionally celebrated the day when all human beings were said to have been created, 人日 rén rì, Human Day on the seventh day of the Chinese New Year  by feasting on their catches. I suppose they eat the fish raw by slicing them into thin strips too as this has been known to be the practice in ancient China. Eating yúshēng; during Chinese New Year for the Chinese in South East Asia, most notably in Malaysia and Singapore; I was led to believe is done on the seventh day. It was on the second day when I had yúshēng with Swee Ling and the gang. And I had yúshēng every other day at home, at the place of work and in Chinese associations or whenever a crowd gathers for merry making during Chinese New Year. The yúshēng may not even have fish nowadays but the fun of being together has not declined. The last yúshēng I had this year surprisingly was after Chinese New Year, when in an association, people met and ate. Guess what other food were also offered then?
