At KLIA, once my friends and I who were just back from Busan, Korea, sat in a fast food restaurant to kill the time as we waited for the express bus to take us back to Taiping. The plane had arrived on time but it would be hours before the bus was scheduled to start its journey. As we sat and chatted, the topic invariably began to focus on the late Hong Kong movie star, Lin Dai. Someone said she was an actress, never a singer. In Thailand, the star had in fact been recognised just for her acting talent. Lin Dai, of course, was both an actress and a singer. I used to think that the songs 不了情 Love Without End and 夢 Dream were dubbed but it's a fact that she had many beautiful songs to her credit. Some songs, she sang with some great male singers of her time, Yen Chun and Yang Guang. My personal favourite would be the one mom hummed 牧羊歌 Shepherd Song.
