Lucky 🐈

Cat,
Lucky cat,
Brings luck.

Just the other day when I went for lunch in a Chinese restaurant, I saw this big cat on the counter there, its front paw upright and moving slowly, beckoning. It's the beckoning cat, maneki-neko,  a Japanese figurine which served as a  lucky charm or talisman. The cat was battery-powered; that was for sure. The Chinese in Malaysia and elsewhere in the world, I suppose, had abdopted the Japanese practice of placing the beckoning cat in their business premises, at the entrances usually as it is believed that it would bring good luck and businesses. Nevermind that the cat is Japanese. Didn't  the late Deng Xiaoping  ι‚“小平, the Chinese leader of the People's Republic of China said, Nevermind if it's a black or white cat as long as it catches the mice?
