Just the other day, I was having dinner with some colleagues and we inadvertently talked about orphans from orphanages. Was it in the 70s when China had this one child policy which resulted in the first born daughters being given away as Chinese prefer to have son who would carry the name of the family to the next generation? Then, Americans who wanted to adopt could fly over to China and after filling in some forms and paying a lot of money, take home a baby. The babies are grown up now and I happen to meet two. They are in their mid twenties and very American.
