Many people, both in the east and west; most probably know or have heard about the great Chinese philosopher, Confucius; but Xun Zi? Personally, I haven't heard of this Chinese philosopher who live in 312 - 230 BCE even though he most certainly was a big name himself; being influential during the Han dynasty. Some of the things he said are rather interesting: Pray all you want - Heaven can't hear you. It's not going to stop winter because you are cold and if you pray for the rain, sometimes it rains and sometimes, not; since prayers have nothing to do with it. For this, someone wrote in the Net that he sounds like an atheist. In the same way, Confucius sound like an atheist too. When asked about heaven and hell, I remember having read somewhere that he replied, Why bother about heaven and hell when life on Earth is not yet fully understood? or something in that nature. Ancient Chinese philosophers were all atheists and everyone else in this world, too who lived before world religions were introduced, I suppose.
