Special Feature: Noble Teachers

I read in the paper on 19 June that Fan Meizhong, a Chinese language teacher from a private high school had been sacked in China. Branded Running Fan, the teacher had run away when the 8.0 magnitude earthquake hit Sichuan on May 12 and since then 70,000 people including thousands of children had perished. Fan Meizhong had fleeced the classroom before his students during the earthquake and his action had not only caused him his job but the media in China and the Internet users had denounced his action. The ex-teacher had said wrote on popular online portal Tianya.cn. that at such a life-or-death moment, he would only consider sacrificing his life for his daughter, not for anyone else, even his own mother. Yuan Wentin(袁文婷), 26, first grade teacher. When the earthquake struck, she rushed to carry her stunned students from classroom on the 3rd floor to the ground. She managed to pull out most of her students, but the building collapsed when she was trying to pull out the last few. At the last moment of her life, she was trying to use her body to shield the students from falling concrete.

Many teachers did the same thing. They are 谭千秋、张米亚、苟晓超、吴忠洪、杜正香......(These are all names of noble teachers...)
