Langkawi Trip: Common Chinese Food

I suppose Chinese steamed buns and Yao char kway or Youtiao have both caught up with the local Malay population. It's not that I haven't seen them being sold in the local night markets; but just that I haven't given it much thought until very recently when my colleagues and I were waiting at the Kuala Perlis Jetty to catch a ferry to Pulau Langkawi. As we were waiting, we noticed an unidentified snack of peanuts wrapped with leaves which none of us could recognise and name; and some cakes in the form of ice cream cones were really very colourful. Then, of course, there were also Chinese buns and yau char kwai; common Chinese food, you may say; but all these were sold by Malay vendors, catering to a Malay crowd. Surprised, yeah?
