Green Post: No Plastic Day

In Penang, Malaysia, there is the No Plastic Mondays that helps keep the world green. On Mondays, consumers have to pay 20 sen for every plastic bag taken when making purchases in supermarkets and hypermarkets. That had some people shouting at cashiers for refusing them free plastic bags. That was even when the money collected would be channelled to the Partners Against Poverty fund aimed to help the state’s hardcore poor. Nevertheless, the programme had saved almost 600,000 plastic bags in 13 days.Penang's Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said that the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry is also embarking on a similar campaign. Perhaps, if the world could not have a No Plastic World, then it should having a No Plastic Day!
