Famous Malaysians

When Malaysia was celebrating her Merdeka or Independence Day on August 31, MSN Entertainment features eight Malaysians said to be world famous. Five of the eight were Chinese. Top on the list were James Bond Girl, Michelle Yeoh Choo Kheng and the man who made shoes for Princess Diana, Dato' Jimmy Choo. I was not surprised to find Nicholas Teo in the list since after singing Huáng Hūn and winning the top prize in the 2002 Astro Talent Quest, he went on to make Taiwanese dramas, Smiling Pasta (2006) and Invincible Shan Bao Mei (2008) and making himself a name in Taiwan and in South East Asian countries. Model Amber Chia was the talk of the town when she appeared in the Indonesian version of Playboy; so, perhaps, that's why she was on the list but another model, Ling Tan, was a surprise entry. Haven't heard of her until now but this girl who was discovered in a small fashion show went to New York and was snapped up by IMG which incidentally is one of the most influential modelling agencies in the worl. Ling Tan's face has been photographed by Mario Testino, Patrick Demarchlier as well as Richard Avedon for major fashion magazines like Vogue and Elle. Besides that, she has worked with the world’s top designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Jean Paul Gaultier, Valentino and Donna Karan and popped up in an episode of Sex and the City as herself and was featured in a George Michael music video for the track Fast Love. Now, I am wondering why Fish Leong aka Liáng Jìngrú, the Queen of Love Songs who is famous even in China and Japan and also Michael Wong (Guang Liang) and Victor Wong (Pin Kuan) who reputedly were the first Malaysians to attain much success in the music scene in Taiwan or even Angelica Lee Sin-Jie, the Alor Setar born girl who won the Golden Horse Award for Best Actress for her starring role in the hit horror flick, The Eye and the Berlin Film Festival Best Newcomer Award for her role in Betelnut Beauty were not in the list... not to mention, too Gary Chaw or Cao Ge, the award winning singer who recently was in the limelight for being involved in a street brawl in Central District, Hong Kong with Canto Pop Star, Justin Lo...

I looked at these women and remembered one italian TV-programm. They laugh from time to time how the famous italians were initially and how they changed their look in years: bigger lips etc.

You remind me of big lips Sophia Loren.
