Lifting Heart

I remember vaguely watching a black and white Hokkien movie in the mid-sixties. I think a big python was featured in one scene and if my child mind had it right, the snake could transform into a man! Hong Kong, I heard churned out Hokkien movies then. In fact, you could find a 1960 Hokkien film called The Loyal Couple if you were to rummage the vaults of Hong Kong Film Archive. Production of Hokkien movie stopped abruptly and according to my sister, that was because the main star of Hokkien movies, Ng Eng passed away suddenly. I don't really know whether there was a Hokkien male star by that name but it is a fact that Ivy Ling Po, the queen of HFont sizeuang Mei Tiao opera used to go by the name Siew Kien when she acted in Hokkien or Amoy movies. In the 60s and 70s, Mandarin cinema dominated the scene but Cantonese cinema was aslo reaping a bumper harvest especially during the early and mid-1960s, I suppose famous Cantonese stars like Josephine Siu Fong Fong, Connie Chan Pao Chu and Nancy Sit Kah Yin must have hailed from that era. Lee Heung Kam on in Mandarin, Li Xiang Qin, certainly came from that period. She was already around as early as 1956 , acting in the movie How HuangFeihong Thrice Tricked the Girl and was probably playing the role of the villainess then. In black and white movies which I have seen in TV, she was always playing the bad woman and boy, was she a hated woman indeed! Lee Heung Kam is actually a talented and much-sought actress in Hong Kong. She had not really stopped working. In the eighties and nineties, she was very active in TV series, most of the time, playing the role of a good, kind and understanding mother, warming the hearts of viewers. In 2009, she was featured in Raymond Wong's comedy, All's well ends well where she played the mother of Sandra Ng. Lee Heung Kam must have slogged it out for over 50 years and probably should be over 70 now but if you were to see her latest work, she looked as young and vivacious as ever. In TVB top 2008 series, Moonlight Resonance, she even pranced around with young stars in a swimsuit, flaunting her shapely body. I've heard people saying that she had her face lifted many times.I believe with a seemingly positive attitude and a jest for life, she must have had her heart lifted too!

Lee Heung Kam throughout the ages...

Spot Li Heung Kam in the 2008 No. 1 TVB Hit, Moonlight Resonance and the 2009 movie, All's Well ends well 2009 ...

Poor TV stars! They have to suffer thousands of things even surgery for money. I read who made it once has to make it every some years.

Going through surgery to be beautiful is not suffering. Not able to go through surgery to get one you want is suffering!

It's truth too... I don't like my wrinkles, but I think I would not correct them with surgery if I had money. I would prefere massages etc.

If massage can do the trick, I'll pick massages anytime. I think I fear the knife!
