Tortoise in Chinese Culture

Some people say that the age of turtles and tortoises can be deducted by counting the number of concentric rings on its carapace, the shell that is. This is, of course, not true . The growth of a tortoise depends highly on the access of food and water. Tortoises nevertheless have been known to have lived longer than 150 years. Because of this, they symbolize longevity in the Chines cultures.

Thanks Barbie. You have a great week too!

Liudmila,
It's big but it won't eat much probably; it moves so slow and do not need so much energy! People over here do keep little green tortoises with black spots as pets.
