Han Su Yin was born in Peking, China and was educated in a Chinese university and later in London University where she studied Medicine. A qualified doctor and an author of many novels, she is best remembered for the moving love story, an autobiographical account of her love affair with an English journalist in the critically acclaimed novel A many splendoured thing which had been turned into an equally acclaimed Hollywood movie of the same name staring William Holden.

I have just finished looking at the DVD of "Love is a many splendored thing". I read the book many years ago and loved it. I have visited Hong Kong and China many times and think it is a wonderful country. I have had Chinese Students live with me while they have been studying here in Australia. My Father was a great lover of all things Chinese and when he passed away his collection of books, magazines etc. were dedicated to the Latrobe University, here in Melbourne, Australia. Nice to meet you, Muriel. I would like to see 'Love is a many splendored thing' as the best of the East and West. Both have their good and bad aspects. Let's embrace the good and eradicate the bad.
